We’ve Been Successfully Unlocking Potential Since 2014

Take flight DYSLEXIA THERAPIST TRAINING PROGRAM

Founded in 2014, the Dyslexia Center of Austin is going strong. We continue to train exceptional dyslexia therapists each year who support students with dyslexia in local area public schools, private schools, and as private therapists. To date, we’ve trained over 215 Certified Academic Language Therapists from schools across Texas. This means that thousands of students throughout Texas are receiving Take Flight dyslexia therapy or are Take Flight graduates.

In addition, we’ve expanded our educator training offerings to include Build: A K-l Early Reading Intervention, Jet: A Fast-Paced Reading Intervention for Older Students, Turbo Start: A Dyslexia Curriculum for Newly Identified Students, Write Idea: A Dysgraphia and Written Expression Intervention, and professional workshops.

EVALUATION PROGRAM

Since its launch in 2020, the Dyslexia Center of Austin Evaluation Program has helped families gain clarity and direction by providing comprehensive, reduced-cost assessments for dyslexia and other learning differences. Our team of Educational Diagnosticians—who are also Certified Academic Language Therapists—brings deep expertise in dyslexia and evidence-based evaluation practices. As of 2025, we have conducted over 225 evaluations and awarded 12 evaluation scholarships. Click here to meet our team and learn more about the program

free dyslexia therapy to children in need

In the summer of 2025, the Dyslexia Center of Austin partnered with Trinity Episcopal School through its SHINE Program to provide free dyslexia therapy to children in need. Rising 1st graders participated in Build, while rising 2nd graders received Take Flight, ensuring early, targeted support to strengthen foundational literacy skills.

Building on this partnership, the Dyslexia Center of Austin will continue the program in summer 2026 with the goal of funding three dyslexia therapy groups. This expansion allows us to reach more students and continue our commitment to providing equitable access to effective dyslexia intervention.

The day was full of interactive, hands-on learning centered around Nancy Young's "Ladder of Reading" infographic, structured literacy, and the science of reading.
