Late last year, the International Dyslexia Association (IDA) released an updated definition of dyslexia reflecting advances in research across cognitive science, neuroscience, and reading development.
This workshop will provide a structured examination of the new definition and will clarify the research evidence supporting the updates.
Together, we will:
explore key changes from the previous definition
examine the empirical rationale behind those changes
clarify their significance for accurate dyslexia intervention
consider instructional and intervention implications
Attendees will receive a concise reference guide to the supporting research, along with a side-by-side overview comparing the former and current IDA definitions, to support ongoing professional practice and decision-making.

Grammar—the Bridge to Written Expression
Recorded on Tuesday—January 20, 2026
Host: Kari Steward, M.Ed., LDT, CALT-QI
Is it a forgotten rulebook, or the foundation of strong writing?
Join us for a thought-provoking and practical workshop exploring the critical role grammar plays in written expression—and why it absolutely matters for the students we serve. Designed for Certified Academic Language Therapists (CALTs), educators, interventionists, and specialists, this session dives into how grammar instruction supports clarity, coherence, and confidence in student writing.
We’ll explore how explicit, structured grammar instruction connects directly to improved writing outcomes—especially for students with dyslexia and language-based learning differences.
Who should attend:
Certified Academic Language Therapists (CALTs)
Classroom teachers and interventionists
Literacy coaches and specialists
Anyone supporting students in developing written expression
Let’s reframe grammar as more than rules—let’s see it as the bridge to meaningful, empowered writing.
